Hello all! I am looking to apply for the Quinnipiac AA program for the upcoming application cycle (starting in July). I have heard about how competitive the AA programs were and am quite nervous. As such, I was wondering if anyone who had previously applied (both successful and unsuccessful) would mind sharing some of there stats so I can see what I can expect to be going up against. For completeness sake, my info is here: Overall GPA 3.65, Science GPA 3.99, GRE: Pending, Clinical Experience: 14 years as a critical care respiratory therapist. Thank you very much! Also, if anyone currently in the QU program is on the forum, how do you like it? Anything I should know? Thanks again!

When did you graduate from college? Quinnipiac requires that you have taken the prerequisite classes within the last 7 years. CWRU is 5 years. I ask b/c you said you've worked for 14 years as an RT. So it sounds like you've been out of college for awhile. You'll need to re-take all of those pre-req classes if it's been longer than 7 years since you've taken them. Forgive me if you already know this. With your 14 years of clinical experience, I'd say you are a VERY good candidate! If you do have to re-take those classes, don't let that stop you. My husband did just that! He too was a RT and spent the last 3 yrs working and re-taking all of the pre-req classes, and he just started at CWRU Houston last month. Plus, we have 2 kids! I'm a little proud of him! All that to say, if you want it bad enough, GO FOR IT!

Thank you for your message. Yes, I have been out of college for while, and did have to redo all of the prereq courses. I have redone Bio 1 & 2, Chem 1 & 2, Micro, A&P 1 & 2, Genetics, and Physics 1. Thus far, I have been able to keep the updated science GPA at 4.0. I am retaking Organic 1 this summer. Also, I am taking Biochemistry and Calculus in the fall. I am still very nervous about applying as I met some other potential applicants at a Quinnipiac information session, and, to be honest, a couple of these guys have been publishing things since before they could walk! Thanks again, Sam.

I am actually a little nervous at the moment about this. I have started by application at Quinnipiac, and am also applying to PA programs as a backup. According to the CASPA calculation, my overall GPA was only 3.59, with the breakdown being 3.21 for non-science courses and the cumulative science being 3.96. I was wondering if anyone thought this may present an issue with my AA program applications? For completions sake, I have nearly 32,000 clinical hours as I have been a respiratory therapist for about 14 years.
Thank yo very much as I am quite worried about this!
