CHANCES??

Hi everyone, I'm a little anxious from reading alot of the posts here on the board, just wanted to know what you think my chances are at getting an interview: Graduated with a Biology degree, currently has a 3.2 GPA but still taking Biochem so my GPA has a chance of increasing slightly, I worked all through college, and also have alot of volunteer experience, both at the vet and hospital, and have worked at different medical jobs (mostly front desk). I haven't take the GRE but ive taken numerous practice tests and my average score is in the 56 Percentile area for both math and vocab...
what do you think my chances are?

I have similar stats, GPA wise, with a degree in biomed and scored in the 99% in math and the 56% in reading.. and im on a waitlist.

Thanks for the response, 99%?!?! That's impressive, great job! What schools did you apply to and which one were you wait listed at? This might be a stupid question, but did you become wait listed before being offered an interview or after? I won't be starting the school until 2014, is it better to be one of the first to apply?

At this point, we may be starting at the same time.. So no worries. And I think it's best to go in at the beginning of any application cycle, no matter what profession you're going in

Hey Mem0708,

I would say you'd had a good chance to be interviewed. A lot of times it's just your personality and they look at EVERYTHING you do, not just your grade. I use to get really nervous when reading everyone's stats on this board. My grades were average and my GRE was avg. But, I had great LORs and tons of work/shadowing/volunteering experience. I got interviewed at 2 out of 4 schools and got into a program.

Also, you usually become wait listed after your interview. But, I heard from friend that South University wait listed her just for an interview.

I got wait listed Emory and still haven't heard back. So, most likely I'll be attending Nova-Tampa. I'm just grateful/excited to be accepted anywhere!!

Good luck! Don't worry so much about what everyone else is doing/they're stats. It's just gonna stress you out!

Focus on what you can do to improve your scores/experience.

Also, to answer your shadowing questions from another thread, what I did was contacted the department of anesthesiology at each hospital directly until I got contact with someone that could help me and I contacted my school career center to get connected with alumni.

Did you have them fill out each schools form for the shadowing? Or how did you do it? I'll be shadowing a couple of times at different locations and was wondering whether or not I should have them fill out papers every time...

1 form/location. b/c you have to fill out information (address/signatures)seperately for each hospital you shadow. I also wrote down all the dates. Also, try to get one of the AA's to be your mentor. Good luck!
