I heard a rumor a few months ago that due to a potentially substantial increase in the number of applicants Emory received during the most recent cycle, they were increasing the length of the program itself by an additional 3 months. Does anyone have anymore information on this?
Also, is the additional 3 months going to be be utilized to expand the clinical or didactic phases of the program?
Finally, if it turns out to be that the program will start 3 months earlier, are they going to begin the application cycle 3 months earlier (e.g., around May/June instead of August)?
Re: Emory's program length increasing by 3 months?
Probably just a function of supply and demand -- I.e., since there's such a high level of interest in the program, they know that people will be just as willing to enroll in the program even if they have to pay an extra semester's worth of tuition.
Re: Emory's program length increasing by 3 months?
Well, I'm not a student at Emory but at one of the other schools so this is just speculation as it seems that not many people are on here anymore. I think Emory has always had enough potential students to lengthen the program, so I don't think that this is the case. In my opinion it is to get their program to have the same approximate length as the other AA programs. As it is right now Emory is the shortest program by 3 months. Also, they get to charge for an extra semester of tuition. So it really would be win/win for them. But who knows this is only a rumor.
Re: Emory's program length increasing by 3 months?
As I will be a re-applicant in the proceeding cycle, I have been checking Emory's website from time to time over the last few weeks and can't help but notice that they haven't even removed the information about applying for the previous cycle. I would think that if the program's length was being extended by starting it 3 months earlier, they would've already published information regarding the upcoming admissions cycle seeing as the cycle itself would be starting in late May/early June instead of August (3 months earlier, in other words).
And I agree with what you said about there not being many posters on this forum anymore. Even though it was an effective strategy for inhibiting spammer activity, it seemed like implementing a log-in system also resulted in driving away most of the forum's regular poster's. IMO, part of the forum's likeability was in the convenience of being able to pop in and post a message in just a few seconds.

Its also possible that it is a "dead zone" calendar wise for posting topics. Everyone is pretty much done with all the "anybody hear from such and such school yet" posts, and the what are my chances and application questions for the next cycle have not started yet. Just my two cents, but I agree it seems a little dead here...
