I just had my interview last Friday at Nova and I have to say I was surprised at all of the out of state applicants there. I was one of the only ones from Florida so I wouldn't worry about whether or not your current location would affect your chances of getting into the program. I was not able to shadow an AA so instead I shadowed an anesthesiologist. The chances of AA's working on the west coast is increasing. AA's are trying to get legislation to certify them but it is on a state to state basis. Some states take longer than others (2 months vs 4 years!) so it is just a matter of time before they are licensed to work there as well.
