SERIOUSLY! Why do you people think that we (using your words) "couldn't go through the entire med program for whatever reason"??? You don't think we consciously chose to go to AA school? I (unlike you) took such incredibly & ridiculously difficult undergrad classes while you cruised through your elementary chemistry course; of which, I surpasses (curriculum wise) while in HIGH SCHOOL.... I took the MCAT, and I even got into a medical school. I would be willing to bet you never even had bio-chem before you went to grad school. While I worked my trash off, in pursuit of my goals, you had your head in the clouds, dreaming- while at your nursing station- of one day taking orders from me...because that's what you nurses do...take orders. Face it- you "settled" to be a nurse. You couldn't take the rigors of even an undergrad science education, so you took the easy cheesy way out. In the end, I made a conscious decision not to go to medical school, but to be an AA. Dont you dare accuse me and my counterparts of not being 1) ill prepared enough for the rigors of medical school, because out of you and I, its you who are not prepared for that level of intensity required for a medical program & 2) "not being able to do" a high intensity medical education-because that is EXACTLY what AA school is...its not a cakewalk like your nursing programs. FYI- The only ammo you nurses have against us is that "we didn't do a year of critical care nursing" You are absolutely right about that. And you know what....neither did your MDs who are over you. While you were sloughing off learning to wipe up fecal matter, I was already assisting anesthesia. I worked through college and learned the OR better than you probably know it. I did research, volunteering, and worked while maintaining a 3.67 GPA. Last point-you talk so much of autonomy-but whether its a podiatrist or an anesthesiologist, you still work under a doctor. "Being a doctor isn't that great hun"? No, its not- because they have to deal with anesthetists like you working under them.
