Maybe, but everything around Emory is expensive. At least $1000 a month bare minimum for a 1BR one bath in safe location. If you need cheaper, you will need to find a roommate.
There will be some university housing for grad school that is opening in the fall (I think) but there are many off-campus choices. Right now your only choices are probably the off campus ones. Whether on or off campus, their estimate is probably an accurate one if you live a typical lifestyle. There are other ways to save, but you will have to make sacrifices. I wouldn't sacrifice in picking a safe location, however.
