This is exactly why I'm faced with a bit of a conflict. I called South's program, and was reassured that the GRE was an acceptable exam to take. She almost seemed to encourage me to take it, actually.
I took a practice GRE and received a 1230 today, completely cold, having not picked up a (good) book in years, and having only two math classes in the past 5 years or so.
Anyway, I'm thinking - how hard would it be to bump that up to 1400 or so? 1230 is already acceptable, perhaps even competetive to some degree for these programs. The schools report their average GRE score of matriculated students to be around 1200. Perhaps it is a good idea to take this test, slam it, and apply with that to those three schools.
Why not take both? Well, the quandry is this. I have this upcoming winter break, and next summer off for studying. My current plan is to study for the GRE over winter break (seeing as it is an easier test, and I'm already scoring decently on the practice tests) and then study for the MCAT next summer and take that then. But this is a pretty tight schedule, and I'm wondering if I should just forget the MCAT for now, and take that whole next summer for studying the GRE, which would almost guarantee a a really high percentile score for me.
