Has anyone on here had to get private student loans to help fund their education? I will be getting federal loans as well as the grad plus loan through Sallie Mae. With both of those, after paying tuition and books, that will leave me about $1,600 a month to live on. Because of some other financial committments I have, that's not going to be enough for me. I have applied for the Chase Select Private Education Loan, but I haven't found out if I qualify yet. I did not use a co-signer for my application because I have good credit and I would hate to ask anyone to co-sign for me, but still a little worried. Has anyone here had any experience with private loans? Are they hard to get? Who's the best lender to use? Any info would be appreciated.
