That's so true! I work with a bunch of nurses who cringe at the thought of taking the general GRE...much less the MCAT! I don't know what other schools teach-but here, all the chemistry that the nurses have to take is is brief overview of Gen. Chem/O. Chem/BioChem. 2 semesters worth that has taken me 6 to complete. No physics for CRNAs....can someone please explain to me how anyone could possibly & properly understand Anesthesia Pharmacokinetics without even a general physics sequence? You don't have to be a physicist...but at least a Gen. Phys. Sequence....come on! It fire me up so bad!
My favorite part of the article is the lies about how we only practice in 10 states....what a hoot! Apparently, someone didn't do their homework before writing their article....
How about how MANA says that Anesthesia is 95% routine care and 5% crisis management...If I'm ever in that 5%, I sure as hell don't want a CRNA...I want the Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia....who would be an MD...yeah.....
I love how they butter themselves up about how superior their education is and how we are "lesser-educated and lesser-trained." As was stated earlier, I would like to see the CRNAs attempt to take the MCAT-attempt to pass a 3000 level Biomedical Chemistry course SEQUENCE-attempt to "out-rank" an MDA,of whom support and advocate for our profession....
To close my comments, I'd just like to say that I'm SURE that with this new offensive towards AA legislation that JOHNS HOPKINS IS SPONSORING they sure will get that new anesthesia contract at JH hospital that they are hoping for......
