Differences in AA / CRNA Qualifications? Archived Message

I'm trying to get an understanding of the reasons for the AA / CRNA friction. It must go beyond simple competition, because that just seems too petty and capricious, and any intelligent individual would understand that competition of this nature will only prove mid-level anesthesia quality.

I realize that in the end the job descriptions are the same, so is there some difference in qualifications/training before the AA or CRNA masters programs? Other than the general/non-specific patient contact, does the BSN and 1 year of nursing experience provide significant training that is DIRECTLY relevant to serving as an CRNA, and that goes above and beyond the AA program pre-requisites?
