Re: AA-Cs/RN,AA-Cs going to doctorate (D.H.Sc.), what does this mean for CRNAs Archived Message

In reality, just as CM stated in his post all AA programs will have to adjust their curriculum to be at a doctorate level as well. In my opinion the fact that all AA-Cs/RN,AA-Cs have obtain a undergraduate degree, have pre-med science curriculum just as all Anesthesiologist MD must have, take the MCAT, and can go from AA-C practice to MD to MDA is some what on a doctorate level already or count as a doctorate level.

In no way will AA-Cs-RN,AA-Cs feel insecure or threaten by the fact that CRNAs will obtain a doctorate degree in nursing D.N.S. in Anesthesia (clinical doctorate).

If this was to happen for AA-Cs/RN,AA-Cs their degree would refer to as D.H.Sc. (Doctor of Health Science in Anesthesia/clinical doctorate), degree open to mid-level clinicians (Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant - Anesthetist) and allied health professionals.

The D.H.Sc. is a post professional online doctoral program designed for the master's prepared health care professionals. The program was developed by health care practitioners and educators to provide advanced knowledge in health arts and sciences, and health care delivery systems.

Through professor- driven, students centered on line courses delivery, coupled with an internship, practicum, doctoral analysis, and two one-week on campus institutes, the D.H.Sc. program challenges the student to exam the current state of health care, and to consider their patients, clients, and the community at large.

Through the examination of alternative methods of health care community diversity, current delivery systems both national and international health care policy issues facing practitioners and administrators. The D.H.Sc. curriculum is "rigorous" enlightening, and designed with working health care professionals in mind.

In conclusion both anesthetists are doing the same job in the ACT model, as Christopher Green R.N.,B.A. stated in one of his articles both AA-Cs/CRNAs are merely convergent path ways to the same clinical job. "The high quality care of these anesthetists (AA-C/CRNA) is driven by compassion and guided by science, to provide the best and safest patient care to provide these much needed anesthesia care services.
