At one point the board certified pain doc was at hundreds, Do you really think that he performed thousands in his fellowship, or residency? Look these injections are not that hard they are simple motor skills just as intubation is, the understanding of the complications and when to apply these skills is the part that matters. Do you think after ONE year the knowledge gained was global?
Now just like you when they left a fellowship there were some things they were completely comfortable with and did them as as they became more comfortable they advanced and did more and more until they are where they are today.
Do they place SCS or morphine pumps, kyphoplasty or vertebroplasy? If so did they do it the moment they left their fellowship or did they work themselves up to it?
Same for any safe provider you learn the basics apply them get comfortable and build on them.
