The Monopoly and Politics of the AANA Fear from the AAAA Association True of False? Archived Message

Hi I'm not on here to start a political war. As I have always said before in the past and will still continue to stress until both association AANA/AAAA can respect one another and work together as a whole when it comes to patient care in the ACT. I have the up most respect for both anesthetists A.A.-C./C.R.N.A. for the excellent care they provide in the ACT. However I have to be honest I don't like the negative tactics that the AANA use against the AAAA, A.A.-C. when where doing the same exact job in the ACT.

I wanted to address the rumours and/or facts that I was personally told by a allied health care profession co-worker at my place of employment or all other AHCP might have heard the same thing that the AANA are trying to close down all the AAAA schools. I assure you I am not the bit nor least worry about that happening.

This particular staff member is an R.R.T with a B.S. Degree and are thinking about applying to the A.A.-C. program. I would like to share a little story regarding to what lead up to this rumor of the insecurity and inferior of the AANA against the AAAA.

I was in ICU talking to one of my RRT buddy as I had mention above I asked him about one particular RRT that I had shared information with about the AA-C program. She was very excited about the program with already having a Bachelor's of Science Degree as a RRT and would not have to back track obtaining a second Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing 1-1.5 years + 1-2 years of ICU + 2.5-3 years (24-36 Months) N.A. school = to 5 years or more. When there is a alternative route in less time 2.5 years (24-28 Months) doing the exact same job as a CRNA but as an AA-C vs 5 years as an nurse anesthetist.

When he told me that she is a R.N. now and she is planning on applying to CRNA program ( I was very disappointed) I asked him why is she going CRNA route when she was talking about going AA-C route when we last talked. His exact words were and I quote this is what she said to him word for word, she said she had every intentions of going the AA-C route but she was told and I'm assuming by other nurses who are in and/or applying to CRNA program or other CRNAs personally said that the AANA are trying to close down all the AA-C programs. Fact this comes from her own mouth address to her colleague (male) RRT. This is what he told me what she had said to him word for word.

This is sad I must say I'm very disappointed in her why?...because she allowed them (nurses, SRNAs and/or CRNAs) to brain wash her into believing just that to stop her from applying to AA-C school and go CRNA route. what she has done is turned her back against her own profession(society) as a allied health care profession for the soul benefit of the AANA.

In conclusion I think it's very sad and sick how they had manipulate her into believing she had no choice but to become a nurse in order to be an anesthetist. But the sad part is now she will have waste 5 years of her life just to be an anesthetist(CRNA) when she could have gone the AA-C route to become an anesthetist performing the same job and earning the same salary as a CRNA in the ACT how selfish and sad is that.

If this is not dirty politics and fear coming from the AANA against the AAAA then you tell me what it is?. Is this really "fear" from the AANA true or false?

I assure you Emory University School of Medicine Anesthetist Program A.A.-C. and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine Anesthetist program A.A.-C. are the two most prestigious and oldest program in the country and rate academically high with the support of the Anesthesiologist M.D./D.O. who also co-direct and teach the A.A.-C. program.

Do you really think that they (meaning both University School of Medicine plus the other three schools) are going to let the AANA come in and just shut down all AA-C programs, regardless of how strong of a lobby the AANA may have. The answer is NO! you can't stop progress especially when it comes to "education and patient care" period I don't care how much money you give or how strong your lobby is you will "never win every battle" Fact.

The world is evolving and changing people there's nothing you or me can do to stop it, it's called adapt get use to it. I'm sorry to say but A.A.-C.s are not going any where they are here to stay. We have to learn to work together if were suppose to be adults and professionals here?

    Be at peace everyone
