Wow! I'm speechless I could have not said it any better. Your absolutely right if both anesthetist A.A.-C./C.R.N.A. have gone through the schooling to provide excellent care as mid-level anesthesia providers on a Master degree level M.S.A., M.M.Sc., M.H.Sc. in Anesthesiology as a A.A.-C. or M.S.N. in Nurse Anesthesia as a C.R.N.A. your right both deserve the same respect as the person next to you.

I also have to agree with Josh R.N.,B.S.N. when he stated money = drama when it comes to C.R.N.A.s. (not all CRNAs think like this) it's called "POLITICS" plan and simple sad yes, but so true.

Fact: In an article I read it was stated by a C.R.N.A. that had hired the first A.A.-C. on staff at a C.R.N.A only practice group in Florida where she works. It was said she sees both side of the political issue and understand that some C.R.N.A.s (Not all CRNAs) fear the A.A.-C.s will "flood the job market and affect our income."

FACT: It was also pointed out in the article I had read that "More of the older C.R.N.A.s are much more open to the idea of integrating A.A.-C.s into a practice," says Dr. Kradel. "Many of the younger ones (CRNAs) have been so drilled into the political process that opposes A.A.-C.s licensure, they see A.A.-C.s as a political issue and direct competition.

FACT: Also in the article is was said that Shane A.A.-C. has worked mainly at an outpatient surgery center. "I have seen the quality of anesthesia that he provides, and it's equal to any C.R.N.A.," says Kradel M.D.A. Medical Director of the anesthesia company who over sees both anesthetist A.A.-C.s/C.R.N.A.s. He said the surgeons don't differentiate.

In conclusion I still say there shouldn't be constant battles between C.R.N.A.s and A.A.-C.s where doing the same job in the ACT model, both anesthetists took a different path to obtain a Master degree to provide excellent anesthesia care to patients. I have high "RESPECT" for both A.A.-C.s and C.R.N.A.s and welcome both into my ACT where I work.

I'm going A.A.-C. route it only makes since for me as a Allied Health Care Professional instead of back tracking wasting 5 years just to become a anesthetist as a nurse when I already have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Health = 4 years (B.S.H.) + 2.5 years (24-28 Months) to become a anesthetist as a A.A.-C.. No offense to C.R.N.A.s in any way I have respect for both anesthetists..

One day I believe the day will come where both organizations AANA and AAAA will come together on a common ground with one mutual respect for both anesthetists and work as a cohesive "TEAM" in and out of the ACT model.

I wish you the best in AA school and your career as a Anesthetist A.A.-C.
