Hi Ram Actually I have done just that at my Hospital where I work, In all honesty when I do mention perfusionist(CCP) to my RRTs/RCPs they already know about the profession.
Also I don't know if your aware but a lot of the CCPs and RRTs/RCPs are saying that the job market is not as big as it use to be for perfusionists(CCP). That's why a lot of CCPs, RRTs, & RCPs are going into anesthesia to become Anesthetist(AA-C)instead of back tracking going to nursing school just to become a CRNA when there is a shorter route in doing the same exact job as a CRNA in the ACT model.
I have two perfusionist right now that wants to become a Anesthetist(AA-C)since I have introduce the profession to them last year in 2007 one of them has been a CCP for more than 17&1/2 years and is ready for something else different and challenging beside nursing. She says she is ready to become a AA-C.
whether your a RRT, RCP, CCP, AT/ATT, EMT, with a Bachelor or even a PA-C with a Masters Degree in Science is a great stepping stone in becoming a AA-C I wish you all the best in your AA-C career.
