It would definitely benefit you if you do get experience as an RT in the ICU. But it's not required like the CRNA program. If you're really eager to start as an AA go ahead and apply, but even if you don't get in you can get that experience in the ICU and apply again. Not a bad position to be in. BTW, I'm also a new RT grad currently working in large hospitals in various ICUs. There's alot of work but I'm also learning alot at the same time. Hope to be able to use this experience in the OR as an AA sometime in the near future.
