The animosity is coming from the opposing CRNAs. I spoke with the clinical director of the anesthesia department at the hospital I work at about shadowing and she denied me. Fortunately, I was able to obtain some shadowing at another local hospital. But, she was telling me that the CRNAs were not happy with the notion of AAs and that it was mainly b/c of job security and that she didn't think it was a good idea for me to shadow. She didn't want it to seem as though they were promoting AAs. I wasn't suprised at her response b/c of the discussions on this board. Some says that there is no real competition and if this is true then, my question is where is all the damn hostiliy and animosity coming from. There is competition in the healthcare field period and as far as AAs and CRNAs go I believe that there are enough hospitals around and cases happening each year for all of us to practice. Correct me if I'm wrong. CRNA vs. AA sounds like a boxing match that's going to appear on pay-per-view any day now. All this is BS to me. Where does the patient care fit into these discussions?
