AA-C versus CRNA midlife change Archived Message

    To DD,

I would like to work in the field of anesthesia care. I have no experience. Do you suggest that I become a nurse first (MSN Entry program), practice for two plus years as a nurse, then go back to school for three years to become a CRNA? That path would take ~ 8 years. The AA-C path is ~ 3 to 4 years with pre-requisites. I have a masters degree with no pre-requisites other than english. The path to AA-C seems to be the shortest route to me being in the anesthesia field within the shortest time. Quickest route is a big motivation when looking at ROI and student loans

What is the real down-sided to this approach: AA-C versus the CRNA. For a newbie, it would seem to be time versus money!
