Oh DD, you still haven't gotten a life...Fact of life for you, an anesthesiologist is a physician. We are therefore physician's assistants type B like surgical PAs. And in Georgia we are licensed as PAs. Yes we are licensed as AA's in other states because the general PA's want a distinction since we don't take the same exam but then again a lot of them of going back to school to be certified as AA's. Another fact is, people all know nurses as the one that does what the doctor tells them to do, therefore since most people have no idea what a CRNA means they hear nurse and assume that you will be helping the doctor of anesthesia. Start explaining to the patient that no doctor will be involved in their care because you are the CRNA and see how far you get. Yes, i call myself an anesthetist, just like you do in your title, same job, same duties without the over inflated ego thinking i'm better than my competition because i wish i was equal to a doctor.
