I have actually been told that Emory often accepts up to half of its matriculating students from Emory's own undergraduate programs, and that the other half of the matriculants tends to be comprised of really competitive applicants from schools like Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Duke, Vanderbilt, etc.
I took all my classes at and graduated from a local state school (not well-known at all, like a step above "Po-Dunk U").
I am already looking into potential healthcare jobs to work in the meantime, but the problem is, if my application "just wasn't competitive enough," then that could mean there is a serious issue with my numerical stats. I'm thinking the low GRE quantitative score is my primary bottleneck, but I understand that healthcare experience would likely improve my application.
