Seeking Some Guidance!

I have just recently begun looking into the anesthesiologist assistant profession -- I'd really like to pursue this. I'm located in New York (is no one else? specifically, I am in NYC), and thus far, I've found no programs anywhere in the Northeast, let alone my state. I do see that Quinnipiac is set to open a program in the fall -- if this does work out, it is possible, though not preferable, that I would be able to relocate to CT. I do have my family to consider with respect to a move like that... Can anyone tell me if I am missing something? I was very surprised to not find anything offered in NY. I've also read that only 16 states currently allow AAs to practice. Is this true? If so, is NY not one of these states? Further, I am overwhelmed by all that I am reading in regards to the politics surrounding AAs vs CRNAs ... I've gathered bits of information regarding the differences, advantages, etc from several different posts... but for someone who is new to this forum, could someone give me an overview of what the difference is between an AA and CRNA (objective facts please ), and the pathway to either. Lastly, could someone please suggest to me (given my location) who I should look to speak with next to further explore the profession / possibly shadow an anesthesiologist (private group, local hospitals, etc?) Basically the best resource for me to turn to next.
