For the longest time I was dead-set on going to medical school. Going to med school takes a lot of drive, intelligence, and commitment and I have lots of respect from there. But towards the end of college I found myself getting tired of school, not that I don't like learning I love learning but I didn't think I could handle 4 years and then another 4 of residency. I am in AA school and can't wait to be able to start practicing.
As a woman I also am happy with my choice and the flexibility it offers me I can work my normal work week, have time with my kids and even pursue my other interests. If you are going to med school that will be your first priority for a long time.
So far I am very happy with my decision the AAs that I have worked with are all pretty chill people. In all honesty the people in my program that seem to have a slight problem with their career choice are the ones that are a little over controlling. You have to remember that it is an anesthesia care team. I love the fact that as an AA you have someone to ask questions and help you in difficult situations. Some people forget that and then get frustrated at being a mid-level provider. I'm happy with, I love working with a team. As an AA you will be the one with the patient the whole time, the doc usually has multiple rooms. I like forging a connection with my patient and being able to care for them throughout their experience.
You just have to reflect on your personality and what might be a good fit for you. This was long but I hope that helps!
