Re: Nova interviews and admissions stuff
As a current Nova Student I can assure Nova is not a second rate program. They utilize a different model so they can more effective teach their students. They have full time professors, simulation labs, and other resources and tools at the students disposal that the other programs are not able to afford by accepting lower numbers. They also don't throw you into clinical rotations until after you've had a couple of semesters to learn what is expected of you. There's no sense in starting clinicals on day one as an observer without any knowledge. As for larger classes and few clinical sites that's not the case. I am in clinicals 6-8 hours 2 to 3 days every week as a first year student. At all levels of the program an open door policy is in place and all of our professors are here to help us to become leaders, not just anesthesia providers! There's a strong attitude of team work and no one is trying to eliminate you with each exam. The are many benefits to being at a program that accepts larger classes!! It's truly a wonderful experience! On another note, it's a shame when AA's and other individuals that are supposed to be leaders within other programs don't unite and strengthen the profession but instead pick it apart and tear it down. ALL the programs have their positives and negatives and we all need to come together to support and promote the AA profession. Remember to ask yourself what the motive could be behind someone that is talking negatively about another AA or AA program... Small minded people have small minded thoughts. I'm just glad not to be at any of those programs!
