It seems like you are making an effort to improve upon everything and I think that will favor you. I think they will notice your 3.5 work now but they will prob have a few questions about your earlier work. Are the classes you are taking now retakes of classes you did poorly in the first time around or just the prereqs? I would recommend taking the MCAT. Granted it is a tougher test but I think it could vastly improve your application if you do well on it. And since you are applying to Emory which takes the GRE I'm not sure what kind of standards they have for those that take the MCAT so it could play in your favor. Also look at doing an EMT course or something like that. Anything that will make you more competitive and also show that you have tried to improve upon your application since you last applied.
The fact that your wife has a job and does not seem willing to move plays against you in terms of increasing your chances of getting in some where since there are 7 programs now.
