You desire to enter a profession where you literally hold another human beings life in your hands, and a simple presentation (or even an involved one) / GRE / MCAT / interview / pick your poison - sends shivers up your spine, raises your blood pressure, and makes you break out in a cold sweat. Think about it.
This is not grade school, high school, or college. It is graduate school preparing you to enter a profession where the decisions and choices you make can have catastrophic consequences if they are incorrect. Although we will teach you and instruct you and help you practice a myriad of techniques, nobody is going to hold your hand. There are no TA's to explain what the big bad professor really meant. There is an assumed pre-requisite common body of knowledge, as well as a level of maturity, common sense, and professional demeanor that is expected of someone entering this type of career.
This is not me being an ass - this is cold hard reality. Some of you are ready for all this - and some simply are not and will never be at that point.
