Just out of curiosity, why do AA programs think applicants who have spent time working in a totally unrelated career are so competitive? Is it raw "life experience" that counts, even if it isn't healthcare related? On a related note, I was reading the applicant statistics on Emory's AA program site and noticed that the average matriculant is 29 years old. If I am only 23, will this be seen as a disadvantage? BTW, my whole application isn't uncompetitive; I have a 3.59 GPA, which is higher than the average accepted GPA at Emory's program (and at most other programs). Gotta count for something...
