The job market for ALL anesthetists, (AA's, CRNA's, and MDA's) is tight and therefore salaries have dropped. Ga. and Fl, where AA and Crna schools have pumped out students is especially flooded.

Do not rely on hospitals to post for positions.... make cold calls to all the hospitals and surgery centers and anesthesia groups in a wide area you are seeking to live.

References do count so try to get some good letters written, and, if you can get them to make some calls to their buddies, even better!

Do not panic. All jobs in all fields are scarce and, unfortunately, anesthesia seemed to flood overnight. If you love what you do, then you will find a way to practice.
