The admissions folk look at the whole applicant, not just one thing. You can have a 4.0 GPA and stellar test scores and be a total douchebag at the interview and you won't get in.
You need to make yourself as good an applicant as you can be - and then you need to understand the nobody can guarantee you a spot and plan accordingly. You're hardly the first person that hasn't gotten accepted to AA school or medical school or dental school, etc., despite thinking they were a great applicant. Some people just don't get in, and most of those will not know a specific reason why. It's just the way it is. Apply, hope for the best, take what comes your way, and move on with life.
