Be more specific when referring to the broad spectrum "COA" rules. For instance, which state, or even which specific rule? I'd like to read up on your comment. By 'train', I'm not suggesting an AA-C can hang a shingle and start a nursing school for RNs who want to change their status. In the OR setting, the preceptor can be a doc, AA-C or a CRNA. However, the squeeze has been put on the RNA. They will be required to become a "Dr Nurse". This may be political in nature, that is, to get that status symbol in place to one-up the AA. But what if it is felt that the nurse really does need more training to keep up with the competition? Actually, who cares? AA-Cs should feel confident and secure in the job they do. Now, it's up to the hospital admin. to stop caving in to the very vocal CRNA's demands.
