Re: Time+money analysis of CRNA vs. AA school
I can understand that argument and if you choose to go to AA school that is obviously fine and your personal decision. All I am saying is that I was taught many years ago by my father to really research a profession you are looking to get into. I wanted to be a marine biologist when I was really young, but my dad said, great go for it, but first research the field, talk to the marine biologists and get straight from their mouths if they like it and what an average day is like and especially ARE THERE ANY JOBS available. If there are 1000 marine biologists graduating every year but only 10 jobs opening every year, then the other 990 people are out of luck, MAYBE you'll be one of those lucky individuals, and maybe not? Just do the research. I'll help all of you with facts: Just go to www.gaswork.com, this is obviously not the ONLY source for anesthesia jobs, but is generally thought of as being the most well known, with the most job listings nationally in general. Once on the gaswork.com site do a national search for AA jobs, then do the same for CRNA jobs. As of this writing on Oct. 10, 2010 there are only 2 AA jobs listed nationally! A similar CRNA national search gives you 537! FACT, look it up yourself and just for kicks go to http://www.anesthesiologistassistant.com/ and do a national search for AA jobs, surely on the AA.com site there must be more AA jobs listed! as of this writing you know how many jobs are listed? direct quote:"No current Job Postings found!" Just facts. As for the pockets of areas that do hire AA's it is usually surounding areas with AA schools, like Savannah, GA, Atlanta, GA, Tampa, FL and some other areas near the few AA schools in the country.
