I think she is a good person. Though as an atheist I do have a little beef with her for her ignorance on a show on atheism, but that was a show back in the 90s and I hope she is a better and more tolerant person now.
Women are not equal, but it also depends on where you look. Like here in Norway we have anti-feminists saying we are much more equal than in other countries and feminists are just complaining feminazis etc. It's ridiculous. I do think that as a woman in Norway I do have it much better than women elsewhere, but that doesn't mean that we have total equality with men, and it doesn't mean that feminism is not important. Am I supposed to accept that it is all good when I have sisters in other countries that get beaten if their hair isn't covered? Or if they get arrested for being raped? Women are not equal until we are all equal to men! 🤨
Same thing with Pride. Even if I can get married, even if I am protected at work, even if I can safely hold another woman's hand or kiss her in public, that doesn't mean that it is over. Even here in Europe we have serious issues. 1/3 of Poland has banned any kind of LGBTQ+ expression. It is not illegal to be gay, but you cannot promote it in any way. And a giant homophobe just won the presidential election.
And although we don't have all the same racial problems as other countries have (like people being shot by the police!), it doesn't mean that we don't have problems. And I am becoming more and more conscious of my privilege as a person with light skin. I do feel a bit embarrassed saying that because it shouldn't be that way, but I know that it is true. I was friends with the only black person at my school as a kid, and I remember comments that I overheard that were totally unfair.
And when I was an exchange student in the US, in my little town in South TN... I mean... segregation was not the law... but it looked like it. That was so strange.
