Well, at 7:30 PM last night Les asked me "do you think you could call 911?"
Of course I did. His right arm started out with his elbow hurting on Tuesday. Wednesday the pain was moving to his forearm. When he asked me to call Paramedics, he could no longer move his arm or fingers at all.
He has issues going from sitting to standing, I usually have to help him. He uses a walker around the house. Without being able to use his right hand he couldn't stand at all.
The ambulance got him to the hospital about 8:15 and he didn't get a room until midnight. I got there at 8:45 but couldn't see him until he was in the room. I overheard them talking and they were estimating 4 to 5 hours for the wait.
While he was in the hallway, they did do blood work and xrays. When he finally saw the doctor about 1:30, he said it most likely arthritis and they would give him a cortisone shot and he should get immediate relief. The ER doctor was ready to send him home immediately after the shot as he had some improvement in his movement. He explained to him that he still didn't have enough relief or strength to use is walker.
He finally agreed to keep him overnight. He was admitted and moved up to a room at 6:00 AM this morning. I left at 3:30 and was home at 3:45 AM.
I was there this morning when the doctor came in. He said Les would be there a couple of days as he wants to find the source of the issue. Very different attitude from the ER doctor. They are analyzing the fluid they drained from his elbow and hope to have an answer tomorrow. They are also going to have Physical Therapy do an assessment. I hoping that leads to some physical therapy sessions.
The Dodgers and Angels play each other tonight so I'm settling in to watch the game.
Hope everyone had a great day.
