Ok AGOers!!! What did we “do” for All Saints Day at AGO???
Ok…Well I’ll tell you what Cottage 43 did!!! The Church was open with all lights on till I think 9pm for anyone who would like to go for adoration and prayer!!! And I think all the cottages went to some kind of adoration and Benediction after dinner and then we went back to cottage!!!
So different Sisters and cottages would be going in and out at different times! And it wouldn’t take much to convince Sr. Gregory that a few kids at a time wanted to go down to church for awhile!!! She wanted us to go a few at a time!!! No one wanted to go by themselves, so you’d pick someone to go with!!!
And when we were in the church….and we always sat toward the back….there were missals there that had “adorations”in the front and they listed what kind of indulgences were available and for how long, if you said the corresponding prayer!!! So we’d figure out how long the indulgence was good for and be sure to cover your lifetime! They were listed in years as to how long you would be covered so you didn’t end up in somewhere you didn’t want to be!!!!!(like H-E double toothpicks). We each would stay for a little while and then go back to cottage and tell the next bunch of kids how long we were covered cuz we said those prayers!! And then the next bunch of kids would go down!!! You had to be pretty good or else some Sister who was there for her own indulgences, would be on the lookout for misbehavers and they would tell them not to come back down!!!! And you didn’t know how long that Sister would be there so you didn’t dare go down or she’d come up and tell Sr. Gregory!!!! (Or at least threaten to do so)!!!
And this went on till about 9pm when the church would go dark….and it looked sooooo cool in there…..especially one day after Halloween!!!!
What did your Cottage do for All Saints Day after we all went to Benediction and sang “Down in Adoration falling….” ????
