What animal did humans first domesticate? A - Cat
B - Dog
C - Horse
D - Rabbit
Answer: B - Dog They say that a dog is a man’s best friend. If that is indeed the case, it might be because the dog has had so much practice — anthropologists believe it was the first animal to be domesticated by humans. Fossil evidence suggests that dogs may have been human companions between 13,000 and 30,000 years ago, far earlier than any other known animal. As humans developed agriculture, the domestication of goats and sheep quickly followed — most likely around 10 to 11,000 years ago. And since agriculture led to grain storage (which attracted pesky vermin looking for a snack), the domestication of cats followed closely behind. The domestication of horses has been harder to pin down, but likely occurred around 6,000 years ago, around when the wheel was gaining widespread adoption.
