Which U.S. president served only 31 days in office? A - William Howard Taft
B - James Garfield
C - William Henry Harrison
Answer: C - William Henry Harrison William Henry Harrison served as the ninth President of the United States. On his 32nd day in office, Harrison became the first president to die in office, serving the shortest tenure in U.S. Presidential history. Harrison had given a lengthy inaugural address–the longest in history–and opted not to wear a coat, hat, or gloves despite the cold inclement weather. Four weeks later he was dead from pneumonia. Some historians speculate Harrison caught a cold during his inauguration speech that developed into an ultimately fatal form of pneumonia.
