I had the good fortune to work with some really great Lieutenants, unfortunately I never worked under Spike although I knew him well. I worked at a gas station part time early in 70s. got into an altercation with a redneck co-worker that didnt like police. anyway-we had it out in the back room and I kicked his ass for him. Later that day I answered the pay phone and it was spike miller on day shift at Northern. he asked me if I had kicked some red necks ass for him at the gas station. I told him yeah, why. Spike said he was there with his wife and he wanted to file a complaint against me for police brutality. I asked spike to throw his ass in a cell and I would be right up to charge him with assault. Spike said "consider it done"! Handled properly the old school way! Spike was great. RIP Lou
