That’s probably the best place to lose a partial shingle. The peak is the vented part that lets the heat escape at the vent. Air enters the soffit. The heated air rises and exits the peak vents. If you have attic access, go up with a flshligt and look for wet spots. Don’t let your wife do it.unless you have an open walk-in attic.
Am not a roofer, never played one on tv. But had a couple replaced.and learned a lot.
My former neighbor and son tried to do their own roof. They slid off. Hurt bad. So if your wife goes up….tie a rope to her.
