Merry Christmas to all.
I’ve enjoyed working with you all (both times), and value the lasting friendships made all those years ago.
Turns out Steve Moody is a great guy and was an excellent cop.
I enjoyed working with him in Western and again in Eastern, and would gladly work by his side if the situation ever presented itself again.
Now…In case you’re wondering what to get me for Christmas, how about convincing Aetna Advantage to stop calling to tell me about “valuable services available with my membership,” and I really don’t need any “healthy home visits” or insurance people snooping around my home. There’s a reason there’s a .303 by the back door (bears), and a reason there’s a Glock 19 on my nightstand (just because).
I get a phone call a day from Aetna (unanswered, of course) telling me how lucky I am to have them as my insurance provider. Please stop calling. I’m getting grumpy now that I’ve turned 70. Yep, 70 years old. My back hurts, my skeleton talks to me more than ever, and I don’t need anyone from an insurance company annoying me every day.
We live in the mountains of West Virginia where you couldn’t find us even with GPS. I like my house (and really love my realtor - Hi, Susie) and love the 4 acres the house sits on. Four acres may not seem like much, but it’s surrounded by thousands of acres of woods.
I REALLY like my annual property tax of $395. That’s three hundred ninety five dollars. A year. Annually. I pay it all at one time. The girls at the Assessor’s Office are cute, friendly, and treat me great.
Our closest neighbor is about half a mile away, and the only time we head a gunshot is when a deer (or black bear) falls down. Unless I go to the closest town (Buckhannon), I don’t see a police cruiser. Even then, they’re scarce. Crime is so nonexistent, the local news not only reports every single call, they provide recordings of their communications and transcripts of the radio traffic.
Recurring problems, which are rare, are relegated to the closest abandoned coal mine. Problem solved.
I can shoot any gun I have in my backyard without some Karen
calling the cops on me.
I paid $2.09 a gallon for gasoline yesterday. My yearly car registration renewal is $54. I can live very comfortably on my pension, Pam’s State of MD pension, and social security. The State of MD has survivor’s benefits, so even though Pam died 6 years ago, I’ll get her pension checks until I die (with COLAs. She was part of the Judiciary, and isn’t limited to the COLAs cap).
Life would be great if I could just get Aetna to leave me alone.
Merry Christmas to all, and stay safe out there.
