Not sure where the name came from but from what I had heard the building at one time was a ward for the criminally insane, hence the nurses station that served as an interview room and later became a ward for alcoholics. So I guess the police moving in there seemed to fit. The cafeteria was a great place for a discounted lunch. If I remember correctly, on rainy days you could walk the underground tunnelway over to the cafeteria. I was in the first group to move CID property from Headquarters into and set up all our desks and file cabinets.
