This may be old news to some, but I read the new county budget has funding for new positions that will allow the Police Department to staff an additional shift at the new Real-Time Information Center, the construction of a new Northern District Police Station (at the existing location or a new location to be determined), and funding for the Joint 911 Center. In other news, Animal Control was finally taken out from under the Police Department and will be a stand-alone county department, with its own appointed department head. That's a win for the police department.
