You are absolutely correct. My fear was asking retiree's to make an attempt to calculate this on their own, may "cause frustration and anxiety" to the point they might not want to write to their representatives.
At this stage, we want as many voices heard on how we have been treated "differently", through no fault of our own, as our pension system was mandatory. We could not "choose" to have SSA taxes withheld. Just because we were fortunate enough to survive and collect our pension, should we be penalized to the form of a reduction in SSA benefits, even though most of us contributed the same amount of SSA quarters as someone without a pension?
Sorry...I am descending from the pulpit now. You guys and gals have heard this sermon too many times already. My fear is that by the time the WEP is repealed, there will be none of us left alive to benefit.
....but then again...my "evil plan"....is to be the longest living pension recipient in County History!
