There is the disputed claim where the purchase was made, but the product or service is poor or lacking. Capital One's effort in this is to contact the merchant to have them prove the purchase, by showing a copy of the receipt. My issue was that someone else, unknown, made five purchases on the family member's account, all on the same day, reportedly with the chipped credit card, that Capital One says cannot be duplicated or counterfeited. Yet, I know from past experience, if the chip card is not read by the card taker machine, the merchant tells you just to swipe the magnetic strip and the purchase goes thru. From the beginning, we reported to them that we had always maintained physical possession of the card during that day. It would be a different story if we told them the card was lost or stolen. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to Google "This is how you could counterfeit a chip credit card." Thus my plight.
