"The tax benefit would be limited to retirees 65 and older who make less than $100,000 in retirement income, or couples earning less than $150,000 in retirement income. The tax credit would be limited to $1,000 for an individual and $1,750 for a couple."
This new measure apparently does not automatically eliminate all State income tax. It may or may not. Rather,it provides a credit against any State tax liability as computed on the year-end State tax return. That's my understanding anyway.
If you live outside Maryland you will likely see other States adopting the same or similar measures. The sting of substantially higher food and fuel prices and fall elections looming have politicians squirming.
