Brother Les Bates became the first elected president of our Lodge in 1970 after he prevailed in our first election over the seated President, George Mandris, and Brother Bill Robinson.
The other elected officers at that time were Vice President Frank Milholland, who retained his position as Vice President. Secretary E. Brown, Asst. Secretary J. Hock, Treasurer J. Gavin, Conductor E. Snyder, Guard R. Tavik, Chaplain O. Bonar, and State Trustee C. Miller.
One year later, in 1971, we had another contested election. Brother Milholland vacated his seat as Vice President and ran against Les Bates for president. Les Bates prevailed and Leroy Volrath was elected to the VP spot. James Jones was elected as Treasurer and there was a tie between Harry Neisser and Arthur Traylor for Conductor.
With a tie of 62 to 62, the FOP held our first run-off election. The results were tallied the following month with 37 votes for Neisser and 37 votes for Traylor.
Traylor became Conductor but I don't know how. There was discussion about having a voice vote at the next meeting but there is no record of that.
Could anyone tell me who Traylor is and how that election was finally decided?
