Did you folks ever think of zoom meetings? If you have a tech geek, and about $150 a year members with computers could attend as well. Might draw otheres as well.

On a beautiful summer like day (91), we met at Paul Jacobs house for our meeting yesterday. I think I can speak for all participants to thank Paul, and his wife Renae, for hosting our messy group.
There were 14 of us this time, including 2 new members: Kennet Pizzi and Richard Magroff. They both had brought their lovely wives along. I hope they were not too bored among us ship nuts. And I hope to see both of them again at our future meetings.
John Olsen joined us all the way from Boston. John is on a mission to revive the SMSC. He told us about the East Coast meeting on September 25-27 in Arlington, VA. It was attended by 25-30 participants. 8 of them became new members of the SMSC that weekend. The SMSC has 235 members now. This East Coast meeting was organized by Daniel Baker, waterlineships.com. On his website, there are photos from the event.
Prior to Covid, the SMSC was instrumental in organizing our national meetings. There were 16 of these events on either coast and in Chicago. https://smsc-home.org/events.html Here are photos of most events and also photos of some Kassel meetings.
Speaking of the SMSC website. Unfortunately, the web host is out of business and we don't have any experts curently to create a new one. We are looking for a volunteer with computer knowledge to re create our website and update it's functionality.
According to the by laws of the SMSC, the board can consist of up to 9 board members. So far, there are 5 volunteers for this. WE WOULD LOVE TO GET 4 more. The board meetings will be conducted via emails or Zoom, no travel required. If you are interested to serve, please contact John Olsen, neslo1250@gmail.com.
We realize that the era of our great national meetings is gone. Therefore, the new mission of the SMSC will be to coordinate and help create new local meetings. There might be interest to create another East Coast meeting next year-stay tuned.
Lastly, we decided on a date for our next NorCal get together: Saturday February 6, 2027
