There are two events in the North - the Lincoln Show is on Sunday July 26th in our usual hall in Dunholme. At the moment I think its nine dealers/manufactuers with good selections of models, books, etc., and a really nice crowd of collectors, friends, etc. If you don't know Lincolnshire - well you should - why go to the Cotswolds when you can have us? The whole county is pretty much an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - rich agricultural land & wide open beaches. There are plenty of aviation museums (BBMF, East Kirkby, Newark), not forgetting the Red Arrows. There are a number of preserved railways within good distance, but not too many nautical attractions unless you visit the Pilgrim Fathers Memorial @ Boston.
The second event is organised by the World Ship Society in Liverpool on Saturday 26th September and is always a 'good do' with booksellers, ship models - large & small scale and lots of nice people. Liverpool - my newspaper recently said that the view of the waterfront from a Mersey ferry is one of the finest in the UK, and there are various sporting & musical attractions (which, err, don't attract me much.
I must say that there are three events 'Down South' which I'm unable to attend. These are the longstanding meetings at Theale on 3rd October & Wellow on 15th November, and the Ocean Liner Society Meeting at Alton on 17th October. (I would love to attend these but its a matter of age & distance). All are worth visiting.
Contact details for all of these events can be found (hopefully) on the www: https://www.photrek.co.uk/?page_id=276
Overseas visitors are always welcome @ the UK events - we look forward to seeing you!
