The decks continued to be painted "Deck Blue" until sometime in the early/mid 60s. Then, with variations, the stabilized with deck blue, non-skid and black (between the landing lines. Intrepid definitely had the 3 color design. the other probably only used 2 of the 3 colors.

Did any of the Essex class carriers revert to bare wooden decks between the war's end and the beginning of the modification series' in the 50s? If so, did they also still carry the hull numbers on the deck? What color? TIA!
