Attached is a page from my father-in laws diary. He was a signalman aboard USS NEW MEXICO. The drawing shows the formation of TF 1 at the time that it sailed along the California coast at the time of the Battle of Midway. Note LONG ISLAND in the center of the formation.

Spider Navy made two versions of the ship. One as she was first configured with the short deck in August 1941 and one with the longer deck circa 1944. Neither is correct for 1942.

I took the 1944 version and modified it to June 1942, when she served with TF 1 based out of San
Francisco.
Aircraft on board are F4F, and SOC3.
