In the second photo, you can see how much wider the flight deck is as compared to the FORRESTAL, as built.
The FORRESTAL was widened after the deadly and destructive fire of July 29, 1967. However, at that time all 5" guns were removed.
The USS SARATOGA had the widened deck and the aft 5" guns in 1967. Therefore, I will build this model as USS SARATOGA in 1967.
On the first photo you can see the PDF version that Stefan Karpinski has developed for this SARATOGA.
