Things have changed with SS models. Their recent releases come more fully cast with fewer parts that need to be added, thus making assembly much simplier. They are clearly making changes based on input from the market. I have just finished their latest release, the Italian battleship ANDREA DORIA. As you will see from the photo, the model comes almost fully cast, with only the tripod masts and main gun turrets separate. So this is not a complicated build, though I should warn you that the barbettes still need reaming out for the turrets to fit, and some parts are still very fragile. I had to replace the davits for the stern boats because those molded on were too thin and fragile. But compared to their earlier kits this was a much easier build. Compare this model to the old Navis one, which is decades old. Unfortunately Navis never upgraded their Italian ships to N models, so the differences are striking. SS models are very inexpensive, so they are worth giving it a try. This kit including postage and Calif. state sales tax cost me $36. But many of the kits will cost much less than that. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
